Luther - Don't Wanna Be A Fool

" I've loved this record since I first heard it some 8 or 9 years ago, it is from the Cotillion album which is hard as hell to get hold of. To be honest I didn't know it was on a single until I saw one that "Socks" Baxter had. He wouldn't sell me it, so the hunt began. I rang all the dealers, no luck. At The Cala Gran I looked and asked everyone, no luck as usual. On the Friday night I was dancing in the modern room when Dave Booth came and stood infront of me, announcing he had found "something" for me. Low and behold it was Luther, just £30. If he wasn't so ugly I would have kissed him. This is just a great great record from the very first note to the last some 3 minutes and 18 seconds later. Recorded in 1977, and written by Luther and Paul Riser."

Johnny "Hammond" Smith - Black Feeling!

Please imagine one of the best records on Prestige label, featuring Pretty Purdie on drums, Rusty Bryant on sax, Virgil Jones, and Wally Richardons -- plus Jimmy Lewis on Fender bass. Titles include Johnny Hammond Boogaloo, Black Feeling, Kindra, and Dig On It.

Moodymann - J.A.N White Label

"Yes, the definitive Moodymann 12”, a one-sided release originally released as a 200 copy white label. The cut heads off into KDJ techno territory with a jacking beat, analog bass, and those trademark strings that rise up, an amazing vibe is built with the strings, and the repeating looped bassline just eats its way into house history. But of course, with Kenny its never enough, after building up the track and then bringing it down again Mr KDJ again relies on his instincts and switches the track completely to a rhodes led proper house cut, the depth is doubled, the vibe is lifted, and one of the best tracks in the KDJ catalogue becomes one of the best cuts on the planet. If ever a one sided release was worth 10 times the asking price, this is it, CLASSIC!!" Boomkat

Midnight - In A Heartbeat

On Jesse Saunders' Jes Say label, here is a wonderful track of electronic music. Both soft and powerful, this 12" shows the complete mastery of the producer.

The New-Yorkers - My Baby Knows (I like It)

"Great and sought after boogie disco from the independent Camille label out of Bronx. The side B isn't a real instrumental version, but the continuation of the side A without vocals. The track is characterized by nice breaks, strong percussion, punchy horns and a bit of synth action. " Disco Music

Crystal Winds - First Flight

Crystal Winds are Paul Coleman and Cortez Brown with a group of Chicago s finest. recorded in the heyday era of Curtom, but released on the lesser known Cash Ear label, First Flight has been a sought after rare funk/soul album for over twenty years. Tooled by some incredible musicianship, with orchestrations by Rich Tufo (Curtis Mayfield, Leroy Hutson etc), it's no wonder that original copies of this album have exchanged hands for seriously high sums of money. Includes the awesome Love Ain t Easy , Lovers Holiday and So Sad from a long lost era of Chicago magic.

Ray Pollard - The Drifter/Let Him Go

"The late great Ray Pollard was the former lead singer with The Wanderers. In 1965 he started a solo career with Shrine records releasing No More Like Me/This Time (I'm Gonna Be True). He then went on to record three excellent singles for United Artists including the classic The Drifter. His then recorded two singles for Decca and finally one for Omnipotent in 1973. Ray sadly passed away in January 2005 but left us a small collection of recordings featuring his fantastic voice." Toffeesoul
